The Shawnee Braves will venture away from home to face off against the Archbishop Alter Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Shawnee fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Graham Local on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 4-3. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Joey Ross put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Ross wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaiden Roeder, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Alter earned a 4-1 win over Wilmington on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Owen Tishaus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has become a key player for Archbishop Alter: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-14 otherwise.
At the plate, Noah Reed was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Carrson Franklin also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Archbishop Alter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
