The Liberty Leopards will head out on the road to take on the Garfield G-Men at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Garfield took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Liberty, who comes in off a win.
Liberty scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 48-4 win over Memorial. The win was just what Liberty needed coming off of a 59-16 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Garfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 57-19 loss at the hands of Rootstown. While losing is never fun, Garfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 693rd, while Rootstown is ranked 98th).
Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 4-16. As for Garfield, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.
Liberty skirted past Garfield 33-30 in their previous meeting back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Garfield's Mandy Cardinal, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Liberty still be able to contain Cardinal? There's only one way to find out.
