Lindbergh is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Fort Zumwalt East is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Flyers will welcome the Lions at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lindbergh barely beat Howell North the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Flyers put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 17-8 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Flyers in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.
Adler Crask made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Luke Seiler and Austin Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Seiler went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Jones went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits Jones has posted over his last eight matches. Another player making a difference was Jack Politte, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Fort Zumwalt East won against Howell Central on Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Lions' pitchers stepped up to hand Orchard Farm a 7-0 shutout.
Carson Page looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Fort Zumwalt East's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Kliethermes, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Harrison Land was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Fort Zumwalt East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Fort Zumwalt East's victory bumped their record up to 21-11. As for Lindbergh, their win bumped their record up to 27-11-1.
Lindbergh suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Fort Zumwalt East when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Flyers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
