Northwest Rankin has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Brandon Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Rankin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Brandon is ranked 33rd).
Last Friday, Northwest Rankin came up short against Petal and fell 59-52.
Meanwhile, even though Pearl scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, Brandon still came out on top. Brandon took their game against Pearl 66-59.
Braylon Barnes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kori Taylor, who scored 11 points.
Northwest Rankin has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Brandon, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
Northwest Rankin couldn't quite finish off Brandon in their previous matchup on January 5th and fell 48-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brandon's Nate White, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
