Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hendersonville). They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Gallatin Green Wave on Thursday. The Commandos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
Bristol Stiles and Madelyn (Maddie) McCord made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Stiles pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, McCord pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Stiles scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while McCord went 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave McCord a new career-high.
In other batting news, Peyton Kelley was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Pirtle, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Hendersonville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gallatin only posted an OBP of .118.
Hendersonville's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Gallatin, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hendersonville will welcome Mount Juliet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gallatin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Portland at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
