Columbia has gone a perfect 6-0 against Clearview recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Raiders will look to defend their home field against the Clippers at 5:00 p.m. Columbia's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Clearview's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Columbia is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Oberlin get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their two-run performance the game before.
Logan Menge was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Columbia got a massive performance out of Carter Duley, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Justin Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and four RBI.
Columbia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oberlin only posted a batting average of .067.
Meanwhile, Clearview came up short against Wellington on Tuesday and fell 13-9. The Clippers have struggled against the Dukes recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Xavier Rivera was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Clearview is 2-1 when Rivera posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Walmalier Maldonado was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Columbia has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Clearview, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Columbia took their win against Clearview in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Clippers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
