Logan Adams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Excel's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 7-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was JP Norris, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Cottage Hill Christian Academy's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let Baker get on the board and left with a 4-0 win.
Not much got past Parker Stinson, who gave up just four hits to keep Baker off the board. Stinson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cottage Hill Christian Academy's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Metzner, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Cottage Hill Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Excel, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.
Excel's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Cottage Hill Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Excel continue to outrun the ball?
Excel came out on top in a nail-biter against Cottage Hill Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
