Chicago Hope Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They strolled past Timothy Christian with points to spare, taking the game 60-44. The victory was just what Chicago Hope Academy needed coming off of a 59-33 defeat in their prior contest.
Chicago Hope Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Janessa Centeno, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Centeno. Amoria Allen was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
Timothy Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elisabeth Van Den Berg, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sami Drye, who scored 11 points.
Timothy Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Chicago Hope Academy's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Timothy Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Chicago Hope Academy will head out on the road to face off against Ida Crown Jewish Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Ida Crown Jewish Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 370th, while Chicago Hope Academy is ranked 115th). Timothy Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Walther Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
