Heartland II recap October 29, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Loyalsock Township., who took down 206th ranked Lewisburg, 34-7. Kyle Datres threw for 85 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 133 yards in the win.
The Lancers scaled the state rankings by moving to 183 from 223 this week, the biggest jump in Heartland II. Loyalsock Township. was able to move up by beating the Green Dragons 34-7.
Griffin Dunne provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Montoursville defeated Mifflinburg. He completed 8 passes for 190 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 41 yards. Dunne's key target this week was Alex Erb, who caught 6 passes for 141 yards.
Datres was the best running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 133 yards as Justin Van Fleet's team defeated the Wildcats. Robbie Newton also contributed to the rushing game with 86 yards on the ground.
Mount Carmel's Zach Wasilewski and Treyvon White led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Wasilewski has thrown for 1,239 yards this season, while White has 37 catches for 544 yards. Montoursville's Cameron Ott leads the league in rushing yards with 1,182.
An important game coming up in Heartland II this week will be when J.C. Keefer's team takes on the Lancers. The Warriors are in first place, while Loyalsock Township. is in third place.
There should be lots of points scored when Montoursville and the Lancers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Warriors comes in having scored 284 this season, while Loyalsock Township. has scored 269. Montoursville scored 35 points last week as it topped Mifflinburg.
The Warriors added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Jason Dressler's team, 35-31. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
