The East Lake Eagles managed to keep up with the Keswick Christian Crusaders until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. East Lake's rough 54-30 loss to Keswick Christian might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, East Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Keswick Christian is ranked 69th).
East Lake lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rose Cline, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cline has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Otto, who scored nine points.
It was another big night for Ava Graham, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds for Keswick Christian. Graham is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Robyn Cantwell, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
East Lake are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Keswick Christian, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 16-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Lake will take on St. Petersburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Keswick Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Booker at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Booker focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Thursday.
