Lutheran-Northeast fell just short of Riverside by a score of 51-48. Lutheran-Northeast was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Riverside apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Lutheran-Northeast lost on Monday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josh Rojas, who scored 12 points along with five steals. Rojas has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times he's played. Gavin Feddern was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Riverside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nicholas Berger, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Berger scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Carraher, who scored 12 points.
Lutheran-Northeast's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-3. As for Riverside, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Lutheran-Northeast will be playing at home against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Riverside, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St. Edward at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
