Hartford Public and Weaver are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Hartford Public Owls will stay at home for another game and welcome the Weaver Beavers at 6:45 p.m. on January 23rd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
Hartford Public scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 91-60 victory over Achievement First. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Hartford Public has managed all season.
Meanwhile, Weaver put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy of Aerospace and Engineering], posting a 82-41 victory on the road. The win was just what Weaver needed coming off of a 81-55 defeat in their prior game.
Weaver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ja'kai Perry, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Perry grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahari Taylor, who scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Hartford Public's victory ended a 11-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Weaver, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Hartford Public might still be hurting after the 67-43 defeat they got from Weaver in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Hartford Public, Chris Wilson (who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 23 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
