Basketball Recap: Hilton Head Island's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Hilton Head Island needed a changed in momentum after dropping eight straight games and they got it from Leah Elizabeth Ann Jackson. The Hilton Head Island Seahawks walked away with a 42-29 victory over the Bluffton Bobcats on Friday thanks in part to Elizabeth Ann Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Pankuch, who posted four points and five steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game.

Despite the loss, Bluffton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Arielle Mitchell put up six points and five rebounds.

Hilton Head Island's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Bluffton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7.

Hilton Head Island wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 26-24 victory against St. Andrew's on the 11th. As for Bluffton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-22 win against Whale Branch on the 11th.
