The team relied heavily on Addyson Suprenand, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna Trewin, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Winnebago Lutheran Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
18 must be Oostburg's lucky number: they beat Sheboygan South with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Flying Dutchmen put the hurt on the Redwings with a sharp 18-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Flying Dutchmen, who have now won six matches by nine runs or more so far this season.
Ellodie Mills made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Mills was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Briley Behm was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Samantha Navis was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Winnebago Lutheran Academy's record is now 6-11. As for Oostburg, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Winnebago Lutheran Academy took their win against Oostburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
