El Monte extended their losing streak to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 1-10. They lost 27-0 to the Rosemead Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.
El Monte saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Fernando Moreno, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
As for Rosemead, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Rosemead's side, Rigo Sanchez and Anthony Ruiz made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Sanchez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ruiz pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Sanchez a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At the plate, Sanchez went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Ruiz got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That double was Sanchez's first of the season.
In other batting news, Rosemead got a massive performance out of Uly Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Garcia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Juleean Pinto, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. El Monte will challenge Mountain View at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rosemead, they will face off against South El Monte at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Eagles have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
