Basketball Recap: South Bend Career Academy's Win Ends Ten-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Granger Christian, South Bend Career Academy was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They really took it to the Covert Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-4 victory. That 53 point margin sets a new team best for the Trailblazers this season.

Alana Wright was a one-woman wrecking crew for South Bend Career Academy as she posted 22 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wright has scored at least a third of South Bend Career Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Muliyah Kelley, who had ten points.

When it comes to explaining why Covert lost, don't look at Maeva Martinez. Despite the final result, she earned four points along with 19 rebounds and five steals.

South Bend Career Academy's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Covert, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Bend Career Academy will take on Culver Community in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Covert, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Our Lady of the Lake Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
