North Canyon is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will take on the Canyon View Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. North Canyon, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Canyon View's (thus far) undefeated season.
North Canyon came up short against Kellis on Monday, falling 15-7.
Madison Kirby made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple. Jaymee Gunderson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Even though they lost, North Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Canyon View got themselves on the board against Paradise Valley on Thursday, but Paradise Valley never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over the Trojans. Considering the Jaguars have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Mia Jacobs was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Canyon View got a massive performance out of Sedona Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Makenzie Jones was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Canyon View's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
