Baseball Recap: Tallulah Academy Has No Trouble Against River Oaks

Tallulah Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt River Oaks on Thursday. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Mustangs. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Luke Moberley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tallulah Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Moberley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Tallulah Academy let Charlie Vining and Caleb Grady run wild. Vining got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one double, while Grady went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That double marked the first that Vining has hit this season. JT McDaniel was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Tallulah Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Oaks only posted an OBP of .240.

Tallulah Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for River Oaks, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-8 record this season.
