Two dominant backs in Caron Parks and Braden Brown are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Beech Grove Hornets will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Triton Central Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Beech Grove 14, Triton Central 13.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
Beech Grove headed into their last matchup having not scored more than 13 points for three straight, but Speedway let them put that streak behind them. The Hornets claimed a resounding 46-13 victory over the Sparkplugs. The Hornets not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since August 30, 2024 (when they won 46-10).
A big part of Beech Grove's win came down to the chemistry between Bishop Moore and his top target Zane Ream. Moore threw for 205 yards and three TDs while Ream picked up 139 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 87 yards. Tenauri Woods got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Beech Grove didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Speedway to a completion percentage of just 50%. The team can thank Bj Mastin for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Beech Grove; they were averaging 58.4%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 58.4%.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Beech Grove, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Woods, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from Ream.
Meanwhile, Triton Central was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Indian Creek 17-14. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Beech Grove's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-2. As for Triton Central, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Beech Grove was taken down by Triton Central 55-26 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Hornets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
