The Jefferson Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 15th straight loss. They were dealt a 58-27 loss at the hands of Dunedin. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Jefferson has suffered since December 12, 2023.
Haylee Dones was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals for Dunedin. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dones has scored at least a third of Dunedin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Patterson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Jefferson's defeat was their 20th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-15. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.7 points per game. As for Dunedin, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson will take on Plant City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Plant City is ranked 598th, while Jefferson is ranked 602nd). Dunedin won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
