The Tri-West Hendricks Bruins will face off against the Triton Central Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Tri-West Hendricks fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Speedway on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 7-3 to the Sparkplugs.
Adelyn Lengerich was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Tri-West Hendricks got a good showing from Natalie Tharp, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
Back at the plate, Peyton Norman and Sophie White did some serious damage despite the final result: Norman scored two runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances, while White went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Savannah Neal was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
Triton Central never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Warren Central last Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 24-8 margin over the Warriors.
Like Tri-West Hendricks, Triton Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Lillian Fillippinie. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fillippinie was even better at the plate, going 3-for-6 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Triton Central got a massive performance out of Jalynn Keith, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. What's more, Keith posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Olivia Schaadt, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.
Triton Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Warren Central only managed nine hits.
Tri-West Hendricks' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for Triton Central, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
