Baseball Recap: Apple Springs Has No Trouble Against Burkeville

While Apple Springs put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Burkeville. The Eagles blew past the Mustangs 15-0. Considering the Eagles have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kane Dugat made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Zeth Dugat was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Campbell, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Apple Springs now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Burkeville, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Apple Springs and Burkeville will both be playing Brookeland the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Mustangs will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
