After three games on the road, Shades Valley is heading back home. They will take on the Pleasant Grove Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Shades Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Shades Valley was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to Hillcrest. While losing is never fun, Shades Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Hillcrest is ranked 16th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Rashad Bryant, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Jeremiah Williams was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals.
Pleasant Grove can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They snuck past Talladega with a 57-52 victory. The victory was just what Pleasant Grove needed coming off of a 73-29 loss in their prior game.
The losses dropped Shades Valley to 3-5 and Hillcrest to 5-2.
Shades Valley couldn't quite finish off Pleasant Grove when the teams last played back in February and fell 56-53. Will Shades Valley have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
