The Girard Yellowjackets''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against General McLane, falling 49-14. Girard was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
General McLane got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacob Zietz out in front who picked up 65 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Ian Salisbury also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Girard's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.0 points per game. As for General McLane, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Girard is on the road again on Friday and play against Eisenhower at 7:27 p.m. on October 27th. Eisenhower will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for General McLane, they will head out on the road to face off against Warren at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
