It was a good run, but the Beddingfield Bruins unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to Goldsboro. While losing is never fun, Beddingfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Goldsboro is ranked 41st).
Several Bruins players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sa'Naiya Coppedge, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Natasha Marshall was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six assists and three steals.
It was another big night for Aziyah Boyer, who scored 30 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks for Goldsboro. The team also got some help courtesy of Des'Myah Croom, who scored nine points along with 17 rebounds.
Beddingfield's loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3. As for Goldsboro, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-0.
Beddingfield will take on North Johnston at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. North Johnston's defense has only allowed 18.8 points per game this season, so Beddingfield's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Goldsboro, they will head out on the road to square off against Princeton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Princeton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday.
