Apex's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adley Calhoun, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kody Frey, who scored 13 points along with 4 steals.
When it comes to explaining why Fuquay - Varina lost, one person who can't be blamed is Drew Willis. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds. Willis scored a full 28.2% of Fuquay - Varina's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Chase Paullin, who scored 8 points.
Apex now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Fuquay - Varina, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Apex will be playing at home against Athens Drive at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Athens Drive is ranked 243rd, while Apex is ranked 242nd). As for Fuquay - Varina, they will head out on the road to face off against Middle Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Middle Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Wednesday.
