Baseball Game Preview: Limestone Rockets vs. Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts

The Limestone Rockets will head out to face off against the Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Limestone put up the most points they have all season on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Richwoods. With that victory, the Rockets brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Gavin Kleist was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five RBI and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Daxenbichler, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Limestone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Illinois Valley Central not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 13, 2024. They put the hurt on Monmouth-Roseville with a sharp 14-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Grey Ghosts in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won three in a row.

Limestone now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Illinois Valley Central, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Limestone came up short against Illinois Valley Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Limestone avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
