After only one run in their last match, Middleton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Blackfoot on Friday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Broncos with a sharp 11-1 win. Averi Gustafson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Addie McPherson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Sydney Qualls was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Middleton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blackfoot only posted a batting average of .167.
Middleton has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. As for Blackfoot, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 24-7.
Middleton has already played their next matchup, a 13-11 victory against Pocatello on the 16th. Blackfoot does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
