Huron recap September 4, 2013
St. Mary Catholic Central took down PEC Prep 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Falcons/Kestrels led Huron in scoring this week by notching 55 points on the Panthers.
Grosse Ile's dynamic duo of Andrew Mitroka and Justin Moores proved tough for Annapolis to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mitroka threw for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns and Moores had 56 yards receiving. Danny McCarty helped Grosse Ile's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 47 yards.
The Red Devils' dynamic duo of Mitroka and Moores proved to be unstoppable against the Cougars, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Mitroka put up the best numbers in passing as Grosse Ile beat Annapolis.
Marcus Samuels was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 141 yards on 11 carries as Riverview defeated Casey Ruthenberg's team. Teammate Josh Smith added to the ground attack by rushing for 101 yards.
Moores was the best receiver in the league this week as the Red Devils beat the Cougars.
Grosse Ile's Mitroka and Moores have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Huron in both passing and receiving yards. Mitroka has thrown for 155 yards this season, while Moores, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 2 catches for 56 yards. Samuels from the Pirates leads the league in rushing with 141 yards.
An important game coming up this the league this week will be when Riverview takes on Milan. Jeff Stergalas' team is currently in second, while the Big Reds are in third.
Huron made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,884 from 7,165. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 27-6 victory over Summit Academy last week.
