Evant is 0-5 against Iredell since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Evant Elks will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Iredell Dragons at 1:15 p.m. Evant is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Two weeks ago, Evant was the victim of a tough 53-31 loss at the hands of Methodist Children's Home.
Meanwhile, Iredell suffered a tough 69-44 loss at the hands of Morgan on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Iredell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1528th, while Morgan is ranked 660th).
Evant bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.0 points per game. As for Iredell, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Evant was taken down by Iredell 52-23 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Evant avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
