They will challenge the Mount Zion Christian Academy Mighty Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Wayne Preparatory Academy came up short against the Royals and fell 50-42.
Wayne Preparatory Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of D'Asiah Lassiter, who scored 15 points, and Onisty Jones who scored 12 points. Lassiter continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Mount Zion Christian Academy suffered a tough 64-39 defeat at the hands of the Crusaders on Friday. While losing is never fun, Mount Zion Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while the Crusaders are ranked first).
Wayne Preparatory Academy's record is now 14-11. As for Mount Zion Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Everything came up roses for Wayne Preparatory Academy against the Mighty Warriors in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 64-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wayne Preparatory Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
