The Poston Butte Broncos won the last time they faced the Apache Junction Prospectors, and things went their way on Friday too. Poston Butte blew past Apache Junction 63-21 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-14.
Poston Butte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Lloyd, who rushed for 178 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Lloyd was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Whitman, who rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Poston Butte's win bumped their record up to 4-4. As for Apache Junction, their defeat was their fourth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poston Butte will take on Gila Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gila Ridge is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Apache Junction, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Snowflake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Snowflake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four on Friday.
