Basketball Recap: Mesa Ridge Picks Up 25th Consecutive Win

Mesa Ridge had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past the Standley Lake Gators with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 61-45. The victory was nothing new for the Grizzlies as they're now sitting on 25 straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mesa Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaiah Lucas, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 19 points along with seven boards and three steals. Lucas' big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Riehl, who shot 55% from the field on his way to 18 points and five assists.

Mesa Ridge was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Standley Lake only eight assists.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Titus Schrecengost, who went 6-for-8 en route to 17 points. Schrecengost has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Derrek Sims, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 15 points and five rebounds.

Mesa Ridge's win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points over those games. As for Standley Lake, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-6.

Looking ahead, Mesa Ridge will face off against Windsor at 7:15 p.m. on March 14th. Windsor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.7 points per game this season. Standley Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
