Columbia extended the longest winning streak in Patriot - Stripes this week by beating Brooklyn, 54-13. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Raiders.
Lutheran West moved up to 466 from 496 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Longhorns were able to move up by topping Clearview 18-14.
Columbia's dynamic duo of Jay Banyasz and Tyler Edmiston proved to be unstoppable against the Hurricanes, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Banyasz threw for 391 yards and 7 touchdowns and Edmiston had 100 yards receiving. Austin Walaszewski helped Columbia's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 86 yards.
He went 24-36 with 0 interceptions.
The Clippers' Roger Engle and Gerrell Williams have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Engle has thrown for 2,487 yards this season, while Williams has 58 catches for 935 yards. Fairview's Drew Kostos leads the league in rushing yards with 977.
Going into this week's game against Clearview, Jason Ward's team's Banyasz needs 178 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 26 touchdowns this year, Banyasz has thrown for 1,822 yards with 0 interceptions.
Mike Collier's team's Williams is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 65 receiving yards against the Raiders to hit that benchmark. He has recorded 58 catches for 935 yards this year.
The Warriors' Kostos needs only 23 yards against Lutheran West next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 129 carries Kostos has accumulated 977 yard this year.
One of Patriot - Stripes' premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Clippers and Columbia face off next week.
At the moment, the Raiders are in first, while Clearview is in fourth.
There should be lots of points scored when Columbia and the Clippers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Raiders comes in having scored 371 this season, while Clearview has scored 321. Columbia scored 54 points last week as it bested Brooklyn.
The Raiders took down Jay O'Hanlon's team 54-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Banyasz during the win.
