Biddeford hasn't had much luck against South Portland recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Red Riots at 4:30 p.m. Biddeford's pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so South Portland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Biddeford is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Scarborough, who was ranked eighth at the time (Biddeford was ranked 21st). The Tigers fell just short of the Red Storm by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday.

Gavin Haggett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Biddeford saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Descoteaux, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, South Portland unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Falmouth by a score of 6-5.
Easton Healy was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Healy was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
South Portland's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Biddeford, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 8-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Biddeford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like South Portland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Biddeford couldn't quite get it done against South Portland when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
