Basketball Recap: Bellaire Beats Heights for Their Fourth Straight Win

Bellaire had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They secured a 53-49 W over the Heights Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 53-38 back in December of 2024.

Bellaire's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyniah Smith, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. That's the most boards Smith has posted since back in December of 2023. Adlaia Beverley was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Heights' loss came despite strong showings from Mira Johnson and Jazmyne Gilbert. Johnson went 7 of 15 on her way to 21 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Gilbert went 9 for 22 en route to 19 points along with seven steals and five boards. Gilbert is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 12 games she's played.

Bellaire's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Heights, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-15.

Bellaire wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-21 win against Wisdom on the 30th. Heights has also already played their next matchup, a 52-30 victory against Houston Math Science & Tech on the 1st.
