McAllen Memorial hadn't done well against Rowe recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The McAllen Memorial Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-54 victory over the Rowe Warriors. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

McAllen Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eva Villarreal led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 16 boards. Villarreal is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Ann Mabadeje was another key player, going 5 for 9 on her way to 13 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

McAllen Memorial pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Rowe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-3.

McAllen Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-6 victory against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest on the 10th. Rowe has also already played their next matchup, a 49-31 win against McAllen on the 10th.
