Stagg is 8-1-1 against Edison since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Delta Kings will welcome the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Stagg's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups.
On Thursday, Stagg made easy work of Franklin and carried off a 14-2 victory. The Delta Kings haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Rachael Symoungkhoune, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Aliana Chavez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Stagg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Edison posted their closest victory since March 1st on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Chavez, sneaking past 9-7.
Leila Tatupu was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. That's the most triples she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Angeleya Miranda, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Stagg's win bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Edison, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.
Edison's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Stagg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Edison, though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 strikeouts. Will Stagg keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?
Stagg was able to grind out a solid win over Edison in their previous matchup back in March, winning 5-0. Will the Delta Kings repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
