The victory was all the more spectacular given Lexington School for the Deaf's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 141st in New York, while American School for the Deaf is ranked 28th in Connecticut).
Lexington School for the Deaf can attribute much of their success to Cristhian De La Cruz, who scored 28 points. Robinho Cruz was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
When it comes to explaining why American School for the Deaf lost, one person who can't be blamed is John M. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan G, who scored ten points.
Lexington School for the Deaf's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for American School for the Deaf, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-1.
Lexington School for the Deaf won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Marie Philip at 11:00 a.m. on December 2nd. As for American School for the Deaf, they will be playing at home against New York School for the Deaf at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
