The Evergreen Wolverines will square off against the Interlake Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Evergreen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Evergreen fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Cedarcrest on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 5-2 to the Red Wolves. The Wolverines just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Evergreen saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Martinez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Darin Ouk also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Interlake). They never let Renton get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Saints have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Cooper Benson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Benson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Eric Wallin looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Interlake is 9-2 when Wallin allows two or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Interlake got a massive performance out of Ty Marcum, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. What's more, Marcum posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Ben Haufe was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and one run.
Interlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.
Interlake pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Evergreen, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Evergreen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Interlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Evergreen might still be hurting after the 11-3 loss they got from Interlake in their previous meeting last Friday. Will the Wolverines have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
