Basketball Game Preview: North Valleys Panthers vs. Lowry Buckaroos

North Valleys hasn't had much luck against Lowry recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Both will face off at 2:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. One thing working in North Valleys' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

While North Valleys didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 68-43 margin over Pyramid Lake on Friday. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 25 points or more this season.

North Valleys had a senior duo take command as Kaden Shackelford dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds and Joshua Collins went 9 of 18 on his way to 22 points and five assists. Collins' afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah White, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

North Valleys smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Lowry scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to South Tahoe 61-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (55), the Buckaroos still had to take the loss.

Lowry's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for North Valleys, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

North Valleys didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Lowry in their previous matchup back in February, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory. Will North Valleys repeat their success, or does Lowry have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
