The Daviess County Panthers will challenge the Henderson County Colonels at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
It was a proper cat-fight when Daviess County faced off against Floyd Central on Monday. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 win over the Jaguars. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Henderson County's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Greenwood on Monday. The Colonels never let Webster County get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Colonels, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Anna Kemp made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kemp was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other pitching news, Henderson County got a great performance from Ava Eblen as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Eblen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Ayden Bennett and Braylin Risley did most of the damage at the plate: Bennett went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Risley went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Risley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Burczyk, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Henderson County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Webster County only posted a batting average of .056.
Henderson County pushed their record up to 21-3 with the win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Daviess County, their win bumped their record up to 19-4.
