St. Helens is on a 17-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Scappoose is on a five-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Lions will host the Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Helens 2.2, Scappoose 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Last Tuesday, St. Helens got the win against Tillamook by a conclusive 16-2. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Eme Curaming made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Michaela Dueck was a standout: she fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Lahey, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
St. Helens kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Scappoose owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They came out on top against Gladstone by a score of 3-0. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Indians have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Saige Casey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Casey was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Casey wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lux Johnson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Ashlynn Komp also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
St. Helens' victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Scappoose, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
St. Helens' speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Lions have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Scappoose, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will St. Helens continue to outrun the ball?
