York hasn't had much luck against Lancaster recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The York Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Lancaster Bruins at 7:45 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, York had just enough and edged Richland Northeast out 52-50. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won three in a row.
York's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Smith, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was James Love, who posted six points and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lancaster entered their tilt with Camden on Tuesday with 15 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 16. They breezed past the Bulldogs to the tune of 83-55. The Bruins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
York better keep an eye on Jordan Watford. He was instrumental in Lancaster's win, going 6 for 8 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and six assists. What's more, Watford also racked up six blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Columbus Parker was another key player, going 6 of 10 to rack up 17 points.
Lancaster smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in four consecutive games.
Lancaster's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1. As for York, their record now sits at 4-20.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: York has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lancaster struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
York was taken down by Lancaster 80-51 when the teams last played on Wednesday. Can York avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
