Rutherford and Bay are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Rams will challenge the Tornadoes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rutherford's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three contests, but Thursday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.
Rutherford is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out North Bay Haven Academy 2-1. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Tyler Harry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Rutherford's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-1 (and 5-11 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Douglas Maldonado Romero, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bay). They blew past Gadsden County 29-1 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tornadoes considering their one-run performance the game before.
Camdyn Havel was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Nick Fuentes was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Bay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .698. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Rutherford's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Bay, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-10 record.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rutherford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bay struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
