Perry County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-12. They came up short against the Wayne County Wildcats, falling 16-2. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 14-6 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Javon McFadden was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jordan Warren, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases.
As for Wayne County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games.
On Wayne County's side, Kyler Self made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Self a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Graeme Polk was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Logan Davis was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
While Perry County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
