The Christian Learning Center Mustangs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 48-29 victory over Heartland. Given Christian Learning Center's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 88th in Kansas, while Heartland is ranked 281st in Missouri), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rylie Allen was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Jacobs, who scored four points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, Heartland had strong showings from Esther Archibald, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, and Kalei Hallam, who scored five points along with nine rebounds. Archibald is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight.
Christian Learning Center pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Heartland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christian Learning Center will challenge El Dorado Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Breann Reasoner and Allen. As for Heartland, Heartland and Clinton Christian Academy will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Clara Hyke and Archibald.
