Oceanside is a perfect 10-0 against Winslow since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mariners will look to defend their home field against the Black Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Winslow took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Oceanside, who comes in off a win.
While Oceanside's win against Nokomis wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mariners sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Warriors on Wednesday. The Mariners haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Braeden Toothaker made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Toothaker was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grady Gerets, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Aiden Willis, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Winslow was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 15-3 to Nokomis.
Benjamin Thomas was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Schmidt, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Winslow's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Oceanside, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Everything went Oceanside's way against Winslow in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Oceanside made off with a 15-3 win. Do the Mariners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Black Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
