The Macon County Bulldogs came tearing into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 67-63 win over Wilcox County. Given Macon County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Wilcox County is ranked 333rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Macon County was led to victory by Frankie Raines Jr and Dontavious Collier. Raines Jr scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Collier dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Collier is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 20 games he's played. Tyler Stephens was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and two steals.
Macon County pushed their record up to 22-3 with that win, which was their 26th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Wilcox County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-13.
