Having struggled with nine defeats in a row, Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] turned things around against Okaw Valley on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Timberwolves a 15-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Titans considering their two-run performance the match before.

Shaylun Christenberry made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] got a massive performance out of Kayden Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Johnson has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lily Brown, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Paris hit Villa Grove with a six-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 11-10. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.
Like Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland], Villa Grove also got a great game from a two-way player: Piper Kiser. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Kiser was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Villa Grove got a massive performance out of Olivia Jones, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Jones has hit this season. Izzy Dodd was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles.
Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland]'s record is now 4-18. As for Villa Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Villa Grove in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
